Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) are micrometer-scale devices that integrate electrical and mechanical elements with sizes ranging from micrometers to millimeters. Microelectromechanical systems are defined as devices made up of miniaturized mechanical and electromechanical elements using micro fabrication techniques.
